Cookie notice
Last updated: 2026-10-12
Cookies and browser storage are small pieces of information a site keeps on your device. Below is every one New Common uses, grouped the way the cookie banner groups them. Nothing here is sold, and none of it names you.
Your choice
Which of these run before you choose depends on where you are, not on the market you shop in. In the EU, the UK, Switzerland and Quebec, and wherever we cannot tell, nothing optional runs until you say yes. In India, the UAE, Singapore and the rest of Canada, functional and analytics run on notice and can be switched off, and advertising waits for a yes. In the US, you can switch any of them off under Your Privacy Choices, and a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser is treated as opting out of advertising (sharing).
You can change your choice at any time. Declining a category also removes what it had already kept on this device.
Strictly necessary — always on
What the site needs to work: your country and currency, staying signed in, and remembering your cookie choice. Always on, and never used to follow you.
nc_country
The market you shop in, so prices, currency and stock match it on every page.
cookie · New Common · 1 year
nc_market_choice
The market you picked yourself, so new-common.com opens on it next time instead of the one nearest where you are.
cookie · New Common · 1 year
nc_consent
Your cookie choice, its version and a random id that ties it to our record of it. Names no one.
cookie · New Common · 6 months
nc_consent_dismissed
You closed the cookie bar without choosing; it stays closed until you close the browser.
cookie · New Common · Until the browser closes
nc_customer_session
Keeps you signed in to your account and wardrobe. Set only when you sign in.
cookie · New Common · 30 days, renewed while you use the site
Functional
Conveniences that remember things for you on this device, such as the pieces you looked at recently.
nc_recently_viewed
The last 20 pieces you looked at, shown back to you. Never leaves your device.
localStorage · New Common · Until you clear it or turn Functional off
Analytics
Anonymous counts of which pages and pieces people look at and how they move through the site, so we can improve it.
nc.session.v1
A random visit id and where the visit came from (for example a campaign link), so page and product views can be counted per visit.
localStorage · New Common · Ends after 30 minutes without activity
Advertising
Telling a brand that an order came through a New Common link (so it pays our fee), and measuring advertising. New Common runs no ad-network trackers today. On a brand’s own store, these follow the cookie choice you make on that store.
nc_click_out
On the brand’s own store, after you follow a link from New Common: a random code for that link, so the brand knows the order came through us and pays our fee. Holds no personal details. Kept only if you allow marketing in that store’s cookie banner (or its region needs no consent).
localStorage · Brand store (New Common app) · 30 days
_new_common
A short form of the same code (for example NC-7F3A9C21), written to your cart on the brand’s store so the order carries it; `_nc_ref` holds the whole code when it cannot be shortened. Only with marketing allowed there.
cart attribute · Brand store (New Common app) · The life of the cart
Similar technologies, without a cookie
Some of what New Common does works by sending information to our servers or carrying a code in a link, rather than by keeping something on your device. The same choices apply.
Visit and product-view counts
Your browser tells our server which pages and pieces were viewed, with the random visit id in nc.session.v1 and where the visit came from (a campaign link’s utm tags and ad click ids such as gclid or fbclid, and the referring site’s name, never its full address). The server adds a rough device type and whether the visitor looks like a bot from the browser’s user agent, and does not keep the user agent.
Analytics · A view is still counted, with a random id that lasts only for that page. Nothing is kept on your device and the count cannot be tied to you or to your other pages.
Referral link to a brand
When you choose to shop a piece at the brand’s store, our server records the click (the piece, the market, a random id) and adds a code, nc_ref, to the link. It is how a brand knows the order came through New Common and pays our fee, which is how New Common is paid.
Strictly necessary · The code is always in the link. Whether the brand’s store remembers it is up to the choice you make in that store’s cookie banner.
Order matching
When an order is placed at a brand that came from one of our links, Shopify tells our server the order and the code it carries (in its landing page or cart), and we credit it to the click.
Strictly necessary · Uses no cookie. If the brand’s store did not keep the code, an order can still be matched from the page you landed on when you bought in the same visit.
Record of your cookie choice
The random id from nc_consent, your choices, which rules applied, your country and region, and whether your browser sent a privacy signal. No name, email or IP address.
Strictly necessary · Kept for every choice, including a no: it is the proof of what you chose.
More
How we handle personal data in general is in the privacy policy. A brand's own store, where you check out, sets its own cookies under its own policy. Questions: info@new-common.com.
